MICHAEL JACKSON DANCE – WEEKLY ROUND UP!

Time to wrap up this week of Michael Jackson dancing! Make sure you bookmark the HOMEPAGE so you can keep up to date with the daily Michael Jackson updates on the left hand side and the Michael Jackson News page.

DANCE CLASS TIP

Well done everybody who danced this week. Dangerous is a great Michael Jackson song. I would say this: Certain moves have to be executed with real conviction. To convince the audience you must be convinced yourself. Imagine if Michael Jackson started grabbing himself half heartedly on stage at the begining of “Billie Jean” … He would have gone to jail. It’s the way you do a move … you have to believe and take the audience with you. With regards to Dangerous … don’t forget that Michael is MIMING at the end of the MTV Music Video awards performance. If you feel that you look stupid when you mime something … you 100% are!

Do it for real!

Sophie, hurt her leg yesterday at Pineapple and I’m so glad that you are feeling better. Happy birthday to Hasinah and well done the rest of the class, especially the first timers this week … very well done.

Get amazing at home – DVDs!

It takes time to practice and time to communicate great MJ dance moves! The best way to learn is quietly and WATCH and listen. The best way to do this is with my Michael Jackson dance DVDs … they have everything over 3 DVD, all with different moves and routines. It’s the best way to build a proper foundation and will help you improve drastically in class at a faster level.

This weeks Michael Jackson articles!

1) MICHAEL JACKSON AND PEPSI

Michael Jackson had a long history with the drinks company PEPSI. They sponsored 2 of his tours, the Bad Tour and the Dangerous Tour from 1988 to 1992. His relationship with Pepsi actually started a few years earlier, with the “Jacksons”, in 1984 and a deal worth a reported $5 million, which was a record at the time!

2) ALL IN YOUR NAME, MICHAEL JACKSON VIDEO, SINGING IN THE STUDIO WITH BEE GEES BARRY GIBB

New Michael Jackson video released called “All in your name”. Michael Jackson and Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees were great friends. In interviews Barry often talked of Michael. In one interview he said that he and Michael often joked that Michael had the number one album ever and that Barry Gibb only had number 2. Barry said that he was “very happy with that”…

3) MICHAEL JACKSON “I’LL BE THERE” PIANO PEPSI COMMERCIAL

Back in 1992 Michael Jackson participated in his last commercial for Pepsi. It had Michael Jackson sitting at a piano in a large beautiful room, reminiscing and singing his Jackson 5 song “I’ll be there”. The advert is mixed with old footage of the family from Janet Jackson to his brothers “The Jacksons”, as children. Michael then hears, his younger self singing. A younger Michael has appeared in the doorway and older Michael Jackson then sings a duet with his younger self.

4) MICHAEL JACKSON THE CHASE PEPSI COMMERCIAL

Michael Jackson’s relationship with the Pepsi company created probably one of the longest commercials ever called “The Chase”! The whole commercial was 4 minutes long and was split into several different parts. Unlike the “I’ll be there” Pepsi commercial which we looked at yesterday, “The chase” has many more references to Pepsi and similarly to the “Pepsi Generation“, Billie Jean commercial, Michael re-sang the lyrics to enhance the Pepsi link.

5) MICHAEL JACKSON PERFORMING WHO IS IT AND SYMBOLISM

If we look at the dancing, we will see that the moves are literally exactly the same moves as he did in his video to “Black or White”. We see the hands together in a “prayer” position with movement of the head. In fact we see many many similarities between this commercial and the “Black or White” video …
