Welcome to “Art, Culture & Books” with me Anthony King. Today I’ll be taking you on a video and photographic tour of two locations; Fortress Klis and Brac Island both in Croatia. The Klis Fortress is a medieval fortress and I’ve heard that it’s been featured in the hit series “Game of Thrones”. We’ll also be visiting the beautiful island of Brac, which is home to over 100 churches and is the largest island in Dalmatia. The Roman Emperor Diocletian’s Palace in Split was built with limestone that was quarried on Brač. Of course, we will be visited that in a future video.
Brac Island, located in the Adriatic Sea, is a captivating destination in Croatia that offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, rich history, and cultural heritage. With its stunning landscapes, pristine beaches, and charming towns, Brac Island attracts visitors from all over the world. One of the highlights of Brac Island is the famous Zlatni Rat Beach, also known as the Golden Horn. This unique beach, with its distinctive shape that changes with the tides, is a paradise for sunbathers and water sports enthusiasts. The crystal-clear turquoise waters and the fine pebble beach make it an ideal spot for swimming, snorkeling, and windsurfing. Besides its natural wonders, Brac Island boasts a rich historical heritage. The town of Bol, located on the southern coast, is home to the Dominican Monastery, a fascinating architectural masterpiece dating back to the 15th century. The island is also famous for its stone quarries, which have been used to construct iconic buildings like the White House in Washington, D.C. For adventure seekers, Brac Island offers numerous hiking and biking trails that wind through its lush forests and picturesque countryside. The highest peak on the island, Vidova Gora, provides breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding islands and the Adriatic Sea. Brac Island also caters to those seeking authentic cultural experiences. The town of Supetar, the island’s main port, is known for its charming waterfront promenade lined with cafes, restaurants, and boutiques. Visitors can immerse themselves in the local culture by exploring the traditional stone houses, visiting the local museums, or attending one of the vibrant summer festivals. In conclusion, Brac Island is a hidden gem in Croatia, offering a diverse range of attractions and activities. Whether you are a nature lover, history buff, or simply seeking relaxation on pristine beaches, Brac Island has something for everyone. Plan your visit to this enchanting island and create unforgettable memories surrounded by its natural wonders and rich cultural heritage.
