Dance classes are very expensive what do I do?

I want to tell you a story a dancer friend of mine. She is an incredible dancer and I’ve worked with her for a very long time. There was a period of time where she was disillusioned by the dance world and she was finding it tough. She was spending a lot of money on daily dance classes and she wasn’t getting the work from the agency who also ran her dance classes. I asked her to make a simple calculation; how much money have you earned from the agency from the jobs that they have given you, in the history of your association with them? I then asked her to calculate how many years she had been attending their dance classes and how many lessons she had paid for. I then asked her to tally it all up and to work out what the numbers were. She later called me, horrified! She hadn’t realised that she had paid them thousands of pounds and had had a very small return which was in the few hundreds of pounds. That translated, to her as a loss of tens of thousands of pounds. She realised that she was paying thousands of pounds to express her talents in someone else’s class, for their benefit and essentially enriched them. I was so happy that she saw the transactional nature and the reality of the situation that she was in. Sometimes you should look at your life logically in this way. If you are spending thousands of pounds on dance classes and giving that money to an agency and that agency gives you a very minute about back then you are enriching them for no benefit to yourself and you should stop immediately. Invest your money where it is valuable for you and you can be in enriched and rewarded rather than enriched others. Sometimes dance agencies and even certain dance teachers play on your fears and manipulate you to pay them with the promise of work that never arrives. Never fall for this trick because if you are good enough you should be used based on your talent and merits, regardless if you attend someone’s dance classes or not. Don’t allow people to manipulate you and to use your talent to enrich them. Be strong, be confident and be proud of your abilities you will succeed if you work hard. Good luck!
